Simple Machine Lesson Plan
With Hanford Mills, I created an after school program focusing on simple machines. While the program covered K-8, I developed an activity for students in grades 6-8. My 45 minutes lesson provided the opportunity for students to refresh their knowledge of simple machines and build two simple machines. This activity required students to prototype and redo their machines. Students would test their machines and see how far/fast their object is thrown. Then they redesign their machine to get better results.
Creating this lesson plan allowed me to:
Align Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards with the activity
Prototype potential activities
Figure out how to create inquisitive activities
